Real Women is a fellowship of women which endeavors to offer a safe place where women can be real and vulnerable with God and one another. Through study of God's Word, we seek to grow in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, be transformed into His image, and bear fruit for His kingdom. This diverse gathering includes women in every season or shade of life from various churches in the Mobile area. The two hour Bible study includes small group discussion and large group instruction.  There is an opportunity for worship and prayer prior to the meeting.

Two days before celebrating His final Passover, Jesus warns His followers that the end times would be marked by an increase of those who would seek to mislead, and that even some of the elect would fall prey to their schemes (Matthew 24:24). Intimately knowing your God is the only defense against being deceived, and the Bible remains the standard for knowing Him. However, familiarity with chapter and verse alone falls short of the fortification needed to stand against deception. We must understand the unfolding metanarrative, as well as our place in it, and know how to rightly read, interpret, and apply God’s Word for ourselves. In light of this, a video series by Howard Hendricks, Living by the Book, The Art and Science of Reading the Bible, along with the exploration of the Bible’s metanarrative will be the tools for this year’s study. Real Women meets on Thursdays from 9:30 – 11:30 AM, and this year’s session will run from September 15, 2011 – May 10, 2012 with the following exceptions:  November 24, December 22 & 29, February 23, April 5. Childcare is available.*

Bible Study Meets Home School Co-op

The heart behind incorporating a home schooling component into Real Women is to make it possible for home schooling moms to participate in group Bible Study while educating their children at home. This year’s co-op offerings include two one-hour, multiage classes during Real Women Bible study, Art and Bible. In Art, Jillian Carden will take students on a journey through the world of art and the famous artist who lived in that world. They will learn of these great Artisans and engage in hands-on projects that make the art come alive, all the while gaining an appreciation of color, color mixing, drawing, sculpture, and much more! The monthly cost is $20 for first child and $10 each additional child per family. In Bible, Jon Holland will lead a team of teachers who will illuminate "The Big Story of the Bible". Not only will students learn how the stories of the Bible are connected, but they will become familiar with how to use their Bibles through knowledge of the books and memory verses. There is no cost for participation in the Bible class. The registration deadline is Thursday, August 25.
