Oblation Bearers

In keeping with an ancient tradition of the Church we ask lay persons to bring the oblations (the bread and wine to be offered for consecration in the Eucharist) forward at the offering each Sunday in the 10:30 a.m. service. This activity is open to any members who would like to participate.

We have done this mainly by family units because several items are brought forward each week, and it is an excellent way to involve our children in the service. Participation is by no means limited to families with children, however, and singles and couples are encouraged to participate.

The bread and wine are provided by the church, and the Oblation Bearers simply go to the back of the sanctuary at the conclusion of the announcements on the Sunday they are serving so that they can bring the oblations forward immediately upon the priest's issuance of the offertory sentences.
